Why wait until January to make changes in your life?

The New Year is right around the corner. This is the time of year when we traditionally look at our lives and make grand resolutions for change. Change life-long habits. Lose weight. Get in shape. Make new friends. If you’re like me, most of those grand dreams get left by the wayside of our life paths... and the abandoning of those resolutions often leads to guilt, shame, and feelings of inadequacy. This year, let’s try something new, and make some real change in our lives. Being bedbug-free can be one of those changes.
My first thought: let’s not make resolutions we know we won’t or can’t keep. Grandiose ideas, like losing a ton of weight or achieving financial freedom, may be best left for storybooks and fairytales. Instead, think of a concise element of your life that’s been bugging you (yes, pun intended!), and take some time to think through your frustration. Examples include increasing gratitude, improving confidence, or just even smiling more. Concepts like being a better partner or parent are larger than we want to address right now... and may be improved by the basic changes we make.
Whatever you choose to improve or change, make it a basic part of your life. Gratitude can begin with something as simple as saying “thank you” more often and more regularly. Nothing major or earthshaking here. Just simple, basic changes. Don’t wait until January 1st to begin. Once you’ve identified the improvement, start right here and now.
Then be patient with yourself as you reshape your life.

Don’t take our word for it
It's been 2-1/2 months of that blissful feeling of getting into bed with all of our uninvited guests. I brought the bed bugs home from working in-home care. It is not any one person's fault — these guys are the hitchhikers from H _ _ _. We sprayed, bombed, powdered and turned the rooms upside down and picked bugs and put them into soapy water (soapy-otherwise they will swim right out). When we called and talked to Bill, we KNEW this was our solution. Of course it makes sense to heat the entire house. We even had a quote from a “large” corporation that said they would “treat” 4 rooms for a price 1/3 higher than Bill’s. If we had gone with Bill right away, we would have saved so much money in bombs, sprays, laundering, and mattress covers — but also time and aggravation. The house also felt so fresh after the treatment. Bill takes the time with you for you to feel comfortable in your decision. We left for the entire day and felt completely comfortable with Bill having the run of the house. Poor Bill, though. We had our home treated on the day of the first winter storm in November. That man spent longer hours at our place due to the extreme winds and cold. What a trooper. We would say that Bill is the type of person that we now call a friend. He is welcome at our home anytime.
